A writer by trade, and a lifelong wine enthusiast, I import wines from talented wine makers I meet on my travels.
The wines I import are selected in large part because they are wines my wife and I enjoy drinking ourselves. We feel personally and unreservedly able to introduce the wines to others after the pleasure the wines have given us.
The other factor that matters most in our selections is the relationship we sense of the winemaker/vigneron has to the wine, his or her passion for growing the fruit and transforming it into wine. Wine, above all, is about relationships—vine to soil to weather to temperament. And this includes pricing. As importers we have to maintain both the integrity and the passion of the winemaker and to transmit it— tell his or her story— to the customer. The wines must be priced fairly all along the process.
